If you know me, you’ll know that I love looking at things up close. So I’m pretty happy with this weeks find brought to you courtesy of the Church Street Antique Alley.

Finders
I found a 1953 leather held set of playing cards used on board a South African Cruise Line. Remember those times before TV, iPods and series when you had to play Backgammon or cards to entertain yourselves? Nope, neither do I.

This week I found an original Royal Worcester Bone China fish figurine. Even though it was only in my possession for 3 hours (it was meant as a gift) it was a considerably happy 3 hours.

GOOD CLOTHING Design Indaba 2012
I’m an avid supporter of local talent, so of course the annual Design Indaba is a little treasure trove of what’s hot on the local circuit. Even though I honestly did not notice a change in the stalls from 2009 to present, the clothing designers were this years stars. I wasn’t wowed by any new innovations in the textile, graphic or furniture design arena but the fashion designers did not hold back in the slightest.
Marian Park-Ross’ Good Clothing show delivered in all aspects. The Cape Town Autumn will be littered with sequins, gold and black embroided silks and oversized sweat shirts in citrus colours. And of course I’m excited!
Selfi’s Autumn range paired pastel mints, rusts and navy with peter-pan collars and sheer insets. With fashion like this I can’t wait to cover up for crisp Cape Town weather!
